ON TIME AID (OTA) arbeiten.

Was ich erlebt habe, durchleben viele andere schweigend.

Logosynthesis® in War: Healing and Hope

My Personal and Professional Journey – Bulonza Jerson

My name is Bulonza Jerson and I grew up in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo—a region scarred by war. All my life, I have faced pain, trauma, failure, fear, physical symptoms, and disturbing memories. In 1997, when I was just two years old, my parents fled the AFDL war in the Kabare territory. We were hiding in the forest to survive, and that’s where I contracted an unknown illness. It paralyzed my left arm, leaving me with a motor disability that I still carry today.

Growing up with this disability was a real struggle. In our society, I was seen as “useless”, “incapable”, “someone who could never achieve anything”. These words and judgments left deep scars and led to constant, silent suffering. Yet as I lived through this, I also saw people around me suffering even more than I did: orphaned children, women broken by sexual violence, entire families displaced by war. That’s what pushed me to create ON TIME AID in 2017 — to help those whom life had wounded deeply.

My Discovery of Logosynthesis®

In 2021, while looking for tools to heal my own pain and better help others, I came across an article online about Logosynthesis®. I found it fascinating, but I didn’t know how to access it in practice. I set it aside.

A few months later, I found out that a training had been organized in Bukavu, led by Madame Esther Borra. It felt like a sign. I knew I had to learn more. I reached out to her, and then to Willem Lammers, the founder of Logosynthesis®. I shared my desire to be trained — to heal my own trauma, and also to support my community, which has been deeply affected by war.

Unfortunately, most of the trainings were taking place in Europe and were too expensive for me. Time went on, but the war only got worse. More deaths, more sexual violence, more injuries, more displacement.

Doctors, psychologists, social workers and humanitarian workers were themselves overwhelmed and traumatized. At that critical point, I contacted Willem again and sincerely asked if he could offer us a free training. Without hesitation, he accepted and connected us with Madame Sandrine Lécuyer, a Trainer in Logosynthesis®. She kindly agreed to guide us through a 5-day online training in April 2025.

A Training That Changed My Life

Together with doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and humanitarian workers, we participated in the Logosynthesis® Basic Seminar to understand the basic principles and learn how to use the Logosynthesis® Basic Procedure.  We learned through practical exercises. It wasn’t simply a theoretical course — it was a true experience of transformation. For me personally, the specific Logosynthesis® sentences were a revelation. I used them to work on the deep emotional pain rooted in physical disability. By repeating these sentences with focus and intention, I felt a real sense of release. The weight inside me began to lift. My subjective distress level dropped to zero.

What Changed for Me During the Logosynthesis® Seminar

During the five-day seminar with Sandrine Lécuyer, something profound happened inside me — something I had never experienced in any other training or therapy session. For the first time, I wasn’t just listening, taking notes, or understanding concepts intellectually. I was truly experiencing a deep emotional and physical shift in my being. I worked specifically on painful memories linked to my childhood, including the moment I was hiding in the forest as a toddler, sick and helpless, while war raged around us. I worked on the shame and rejection I carried growing up with a paralyzed arm and the anger I felt toward life, and sometimes even toward God.

Sandrine guided our group through the Logosynthesis® Basic Procedure to process our own specific memories, with calm presence and precision. As I spoke the third sentence — “I retrieve all my energy bound up in this image and I take it back to the right place in my Self.” — I felt a wave of release flow through my chest. My body suddenly relaxed. My breath deepened. The tightness I had always felt in my heart… softened. It was as if a heavy stone was being lifted from within.

That night, I slept better than I had in months. No nightmares. No physical pain in my neck or shoulders like before. Emotionally, something had changed too. For years, I had tried to appear strong — for my community, my organization, and my team — but inside, I felt small, broken, and unworthy. After that session, I started to feel more whole. I began to see my story not as a curse, but as a path that gave me deep compassion for others. I felt more grounded, more peaceful, and even more open to joy — something I had forgotten was possible.

Now, when I sit with war victims, raped women, orphaned children, I no longer feel overwhelmed. I stay present. I guide them gently with the methods Sandrine taught us. I know how to help, without absorbing their pain. This training not only helped me professionally — it changed the way I relate to myself. And for that, I will always be grateful.

Today, I Keep Healing – And I Help Others Heal

Thanks to this training, I feel better equipped to support rape survivors, orphaned children, and displaced people affected by war, whom we work with through our humanitarian organization, ON TIME AID (OTA). With the 7 stages of guided change that I learned, I now help others identify their internal blocks, process them, and move toward healing. Every day, I continue to apply what I’ve learned — to take care of my own mental health and to share with others what has saved me. What I’ve experienced, many others go through in silence. But now, I know that healing is possible. And I want to be a bridge to that healing for others.

Medici, psicologi, assistenti sociali e operatori umanitari erano essi stessi sopraffatti e traumatizzati.

Abbiamo imparato attraverso esercizi pratici.
